6.28 Cycle Of Desire And Action

We perform actions externally. While performing action, a desire is born. We have the impressions of action already stored inside of us. It is those impressions that arise and impel us to act. From desire comes action, from action comes desire. We have mixed ourselves with this ignorance and fallen into the delusion that we are this action and this action is ours. Where did this delusion come from? It came from not knowing who were are (brahman). The root is ignorance, from that comes desire, from that comes action, an endless cycle! Ignorance, desire and action, this is the noose with which a human is bound. Since when is he bound? This noose has been around since time immemorial! If we ourselves will not free ourselves, cut ourselves from it, then who will? If we postpone it for several lifetimes, then even after taking millions of births we will be unable to release ourselves unless we put in effort. Deities will not help you in this endeavour. In fact, they will put obstacles in your path, since they know that if they help you now, one day, you will become superior to them and put your feet on their head! When you yourself desire that "I want to experience myself as pure-aware-free" then only can you be free.
