6.16 Place For Questions And Answers

Questions in Vedanta are not raised for the fulfillment of inquiry, they are raised for the cessation of inquiry. Inquiry on the subject of brahman can never be done for filling a belly, it is only done for tearing the belly of inquiry. When all questions are cut, their answers are cut, then what remains, is the "I". Who am I? This is the question. What is brahman? This is the question. I am like this, like that - these are the answers. Brahman is like this, like that - this is the answer. Cut these answers as well. Then what is left that is "I", that is brahman. The brahman-ness of the self will not happen without cutting all questions and answers. Without rejecting duality, non-duality cannot be attained. This is the first paragraph of the "Advaita Siddhi".
